The end of the Twinkie

Hostess Brands Inc., the maker of the spongy snack with a mysterious cream filling, said Friday it would shutter after years of struggling with management turmoil, rising labor costs and the ever-changing tastes of Americans even as its pantry of sugary cakes seemed suspended in time.

I feel a slight nostalgic loss but I can’t say that I will miss any of the Hostess products.  I tried a Twinkie a few months ago and was surprised that it didn’t even taste like I remember from my childhood.   I think zingers might be better.  Ding Dongs are good but I haven’t had one in decades.  Oh well.  Bye Hostess.  I wonder if they will sell their recipes to other companies.  Perhaps Twinkies will return under a different name.  Twunkees maybe?
