Star Ranch Weekend 2018

It has been a really long time since I’ve had a vacation day as well as having gone anywhere. We only get two weeks of vacation a year at my job and it goes quickly leaving you months of straight drudgery without relief. A new year has begun so it is reset and BONUS… Now we get three weeks. The best thing ever!
My poor RV has been sitting all alone in storage all winter. I usually go somewhere before it gets too hot but summer is coming fast. It’s the beginning of April now and the weather isn’t too hot yet so I squeezed in a day off on Monday, loaded up the RV and took off for the weekend to Star Ranch near Bastrop, Texas.

I went there last year and had a relaxing time. For those of you who just don’t get it, going naked is very relaxing. The other people there are much more friendly than the closed-minded clothing impaired people everywhere else. If you’re not a nudist, I cry for you.

It was about a two hour drive from San Antonio to Star Ranch but the time went by quickly. I’ve made this trip a number of times now and it has become a blur as I listen to my podcasts. The old 1982 Holiday Rambler motorhome purred along nicely. I just love old engines from back in the day before they got complicated. They are just simple engines and they work. It only gets 8 MPG but who cares. I don’t drive it every day.

I checked in and drive to a nice shady spot among the pine trees. After leveling out and hooking up I had a quick lunch composed of a fresh turkey sandwich and Cheetos. I lifted the 2nd half of the sandwich and the wind blew my paper plate containing a few Cheetos so that they spread all over the ground. Oh well. I shouldn’t be eating them anyway. Bad for you.

I grabbed my kindle paperwhite, a towel and my Yeti cup and walked over to the pool area where I found a lounge chair in a nice shady spot. I’ll get plenty tanned over the summer so no point in overdoing it right away. I enjoyed reading my book and watching two little boys who were the only ones brave enough to swim in the cold water. Kid’s don’t care. The two naked brothers kept us all entertained.

It was the day before Easter so they had an Easter egg hunt where you go out and write down the numbers on the eggs as you find them. The first one to find 25 eggs wins. I didn’t play. Maybe I should have. It would have been good for me to be more social.

After a few hours I went back to my RV and grabbed my volleyball. For some reason there is no ball on the volleyball court so I made a note last time to bring my own. Nobody was in the area to play with me but I didn’t let that stop me. I started practicing my serves and some volleys. It has been probably 20 years since I’ve played. Fortunately it looks like I’ve not lost my touch. Since I was all by myself I invented a one-man volleyball game. The rules will be described in a separate posting on this blog. Eventually the North Side won the game 15 to 11. It was a good game and I really enjoyed running around naked in the sun and shade that fell across the court. The whole time I hoped someone would show up but I had a great time by myself.

I was really tired after that. I must have played for two hours. My right hand is bruised from serving so much. I guess I won’t be playing tomorrow. I brought a tennis racket. We’ll see if I can find someone to play tennis with.

I was tired, sweaty and sandy so I went back to the RV and took a shower in the nearby shower building. Why use the tiny one in the RV when you have a real one right there. It felt good to be clean again. I got a little sunburned. It will turn into a nice all-over tan. Remember to use sunscreen tomorrow.

After returning to the RV, I popped a pre-composed stuffed salmon and broccoli dish I got from the grocery store into the toaster oven. In 25 minutes it was ready. I had been wondering if they were any good and now seemed like a good opportunity to try one. It was OK. I probably won’t get anohter one though.

It was starting to get dark so I decided to watch Forrest Gump. A co-worker had been talking about it and it has been years since I’ve seen it. Damn. Don’t have that one in my library. I watched Drumline instead. I was in the band in high school so I always enjoy watching this movie.

I went outside to see what the night was like. I could hear music in the distance. Something must be going on at the clubhouse. Not for me. I looked up to see the stars and immediately saw a satellite drifting gently through the sky. Not many stars were visible because the full moon shown brightly through a soft filter of clouds and pine branches.
Tired. Good night!

DAY 2
I slept rather well but had to turn on the Air conditioner. It was cool enough but the humidity was getting worse as the night went on. Glad I brought my earplugs because the A/C is loud. I imagined how I could redesign it to be quieter and not blow so hard all the time. Stupid engineer!

I woke up with the sun enjoying the view of the pine trees out my window and no other sounds but the birds chirping. (Once I turned off the A/C.) This is nice.
It was overcast with the occasional whisp of blue sky through the passing cloudcover. I imagined all the things I might do today but maybe I’ll just do nothing. I’m a bit sore from the big volleyball game yesterday so I might just take it easy and let the day flow. That’s the good thing about camping alone. You don’t have to entertain a guest or beg them to do something fun. You do as you please. Or not.

I had an egg for breakfast and watched some of my old episodes of Makin Stuff. I made five eipsodes a few years ago when I wasn’t working and had spare time. They are pretty good. I enjoyed seein them and it kind of motivated me to mabe make a few more. I love editing video.

I took it pretty easy today. Watched some TV, sat around inside and outside. I took a few walks around the grounds. This place is pretty neat. There are old cabins all throughout the woods. Some still abandonded, some fixed up and some in the process of being repaired. You can live here if you like. There are large green fields of flowers that are beautiful to behold. It’s something you don’t see every day. I appreciated my naked walks through nature. Also something you don’t get to do every day. In a better world everyone would be naked and it would’t be an issue.
I saw very few people here today. Today is Easter Sunday which seems to mean something to the regular people who have families. That’s fine. It was kind of nice having the whole place virtually to myself.

Day 3
I slept even better last night. I left the windows wide open and the fan on me so it was nice and comfortable under a light blanket. By morning it got quite cold and I grabbed another blanket and turned off the fan.

It was overcast, rather cool and dreary. A good day for going home. I stowed my stuff and checked out. The driive was smooth. I made sure that since today is Monday, I timed the rush hours in San Antonio so as not to be sitting in traffic wasting gas. I stopped at Buckee’s for a lite lunch and drove the rest of the way home stopping for a little extra gas as I entered the city. It was sunny and starting to get rather hot. Cold and hot on the same day. Can’t it just be perfect all the time?
I decided to try something different on the way home. Since my route took me past the RV storage yard, I parked the RV first and loaded all my stuff into the car. I cleaned the RV before I left so this would save me some trouble later. Worked out great.

It was really getting hot now. The first thing I did after unloading was rip off all my clothes so I could evaporate. How do you clothed people stand it?

Overall, it was a nice, relaxing mini-vacation. Two nights was more than adequate. Even though I relaxed I never did shake the feeling of being alone. That’s a tough nut to crack. In a better world, it would not be so difficult to find a friend who gets it.

Light Therapy – Get Naked!

I had a little time to spare this afternoon before I have to rush off to a mid-day band concert so I decided to take a few minutes to get a little light therapy.

It wasn’t exactly sunny on this early March Sunday but you have to take what you can get.

I’ve been cooped up in an office all winter and haven’t experienced any sun in countless months.  A little light therapy can do wonders for your body and soul.  Take advantage of it when you can and feel the sun.  A little is good for you!

Get naked and let the sun wash away your anxiety.  I feel so much better now.

RV inspection done

It wasn’t easy but I finally managed to find time to take my RV for it’s annual inspection.  Normally it wouldn’t be so difficult but the weather has been all rainy for longer than I can remember and I didn’t really want to have to deal with it in the rain.

Time was running out and it needed to be done by the end of this month so I can pay the registration renewal online or at the grocery store.  It was still raining today and there was nothing else I could really do so I decided to get ‘er done.

I drove the car to the inspection place which had a long line so I kept driving.  Ain’t nobody got time for that.  I stopped at a garage where I’ve had work done before and asked if I could bring it in for an inspection.  They said yes.   I went ahead and got my car inspected which is due next month anyway.

I drove through the rain to get my RV.   Not unexpectedly, I had trouble starting it.  It seems that something is not quite right with the fuel supply and pump.  It took a while but I got it started.  That’s the way it goes with old vehicles but that’s OK.  I can handle it.   It drove nicely to the shop.  Even the wipers worked well.  I got the inspection and asked about having a leak in the exhaust manifold fixed.  I could do it myself but the bolts are old and rusty.  I know that as soon as I tried, I would break a bolt and then would not have the tools or time to deal with that.  Best to let them handle it and pay.

So now we’re go for spring vacation.  I think I’ll plan a weekend at a nearby Nudist Resort that I spent a week at last year.  A week was a bit long and there weren’t many people there during the weekdays so I kind of got bored.  This time I’ll go on a weekend so it won’t feel so lonely.  Anyone want to go with me?  No?  Oh well.  I’m used to that.  Can’t wait for some warm weather to plan the getaway.  Woooo!

He might be naked!!!

Privacy in the suburban wasteland is difficult to come by.  As a nudist, privacy becomes very important.

Personally, I don’t care if people see me naked in the back yard.  I just worry that if those people happen to be, and most likely are, regular people, then they might freak out.  I don’t need neighbors to freak out.

I’ve planted shrubbery in strategic locations to try to screen my yard from second story windows but it is still a few years away from being a good screen.  In the meantime, the idea of having to put on clothes to go out in the yard, swim, or use the hot tub really sucks.  Therefore I am at least partially careful about offending.  Otherwise, when it’s 100 degrees and high humidity, I’m going naked whether anyone likes it or not.

It hasn’t been obvious yet that my happiness has been observed until recently.  It was cold outside so I wasn’t naked.  I walked outside to clean up the patio.  The neighbors across the back fence were outside playing with their little girl.  The girl, as little girls do, play very loudly.  I could hear every word she yelled at the top of her lungs.  One phrase she said was, “Don’t look over there, he might be naked!”

Apparently at one time I was the topic of conversation in the house.  Part of me is glad to hear that they know and have not called the police or something.  Part of me is sad to hear that seeing naked people is “bad” for them.  What a wonderful world it would be if we could all just be naked and not worry about it.

These people usually keep their 2nd story window blinds closed in which case I feel free.  I guess they peep.  That’s not my fault.  It’s not like I’m being lewd.  I’m just being comfortable.  If they want to peep.  I’m fine with that.

It’s January now and I’m really looking forward to swimming weather again.

Sleep Naked

I’ve been sleeping naked for countless years now.  There’s no doubt about it that it is so much more comfortable.

Last night it was really cold so I thought I might wear my pajamas.  Big mistake.  They kept getting all bunched up.  The pants legs kept riding up.  Strangely enough, I kept feeling cold and didn’t sleep well.

Finally I got up, stripped down and got back in bed.  So much better.  I was actually warmer because my body heat was allowed to warm the bed around me.

It made me think about all the regular people who don’t sleep naked.  I almost cried for them.  Can you even believe that people wear clothing to bed?  It boggles my mind.  Why?  What’s the point?  I’ll never understand the common humans.  They don’t know what is good.  Maybe they will never know what is good.

Want to make your life better?   Sleep naked.  Encourage your kids to sleep naked.  If they grow up doing it wrong then then how will they ever get a good night’s sleep?   I spent my childhood sweating and losing countless nights of sleep until I figured it out.  I could have done so much better in school had I been properly rested.

I’m trying to help you.  I’m trying to help the world.  Pay attention!

Trip Report – Nude Beach Corpus Christi

San Antonio sucks and circumstances came together yesterday so I decided to set off on a spontaneous road trip to get some beach time.  I haven’t really gone anywhere special in a very long time so the time was ripe for a getaway.  There’s a spot that I’ve been looking to check out for a few years but never took the time.  It’s just a little south of Corpus Christi on Padre Island.

I gathered a few supplies together and hit the road.  It took me about 3 hours to get there from San Antonio.  After a quick stop at Subway for a 6″ veggie delight is made my way to the beach.  Traffic was a little heavy since half of the world was going to the beach on Saturday.

Google photo. Forgot to take a picture. New bollards are much larger.

The area is at the boundry of the regular beach and Padre Island National Seashore park.  Bollards are set up in the sand to prevent anyone from driving on that part of the beach.  That effectively cuts off access to the riff-raff.  Park right there.

I brought along my bicycle so I could easily travel a nice distance from the common people who don’t appreciate speedos or nudity for unfathomable reasons.

It was hot but the humid wind coming off the ocean kept it bearable.

I loaded up my bike with water, towel and sunscreen and set off down the empty beach.  At the start there were a few people brave enough to wander more than 10 feet from their car.

About half a mile I ran across one guy on a lawn chair still wearing clothes.  Weird.

At maybe around a mile I was completely alone with nobody as far as the eye can see.  This is special!  One is seldom alone anymore in this crowded world.

There was nothing but beach, sun, and birds to keep me company.  Nice!

I had planned to just get a nice speedo tan this year but how could one resist.  It was a matter of minutes before I found myself naked.

I applied sunscreen and played in the water and the sand for a while.  This is the best thing ever.  I wished I had brought my frisbee to toss into the wind and catch it when it comes back.

Occasionally the park ranger would drive past in his four wheeler.  You could see him coming way in advance.  I either put on my swimsuit or sat in the water and waved.  It would seem unnecessary for him to tell me to get un-naked with nobody else around but best not to push it.  If I was there with a group I might have risked it.  I doubt he would have really cared.

After a while I thought I might ride my bike a little further down just to see what there was to see.

Naked bike riding is fun.  I highly recommend you give it a chance.

Eventually three hours had passed as I frolicked around.  It was nearing 4:00 so I decided to head back to the car.  I was glad I brought my water.  I was getting rather thirsty.  Love my Yeti cup!  Keeps Ice forever!

I loaded up my car and hit the road for Port Aransas to visit the best restaurant in the world.

If you’re ever in Port Aransas, eat at The Crazy Cajun.  I’ve been going there since I was in school.  They opened in 1980 something and I’m glad to see they’re still there.

They have lots of cajun food but you HAVE to get The Hungry Cajun.  For about $16.00 you get corn, sausage, shrimp, potatoes and crab.

MMMMMMMMMM!  The best.

Do it!  Do it now!

After dinner I like to go down to the marina and watch the boats come in as the sun sets.

There was a nice little wooden floating covered patio where I spent at least an hour looking at all the boats come and go.

I considered sitting on the edge and dangling my feet in the water but as I looked down a Sea Turtle was picking algae off the side of the patio.  That would not have been good for my toes.

The marina is full of all kinds of boats.  I looked at some of the sailboats and imagined myself sailing the Caribbean going wherever I pleased.

Note to self:  Watch YouTube and learn how to sail in case you ever decide to steal a sailboat.

The sun was setting and I lost my shade so I decided to head to the hotel.

I braved the long line at the ferry and made my way back to the mainland to my motel.  I recommend the Best Western at Ingleside and was lucky that I made my reservation online this morning.  The world is booked up.

I slept well and woke up around 7:00 for the condemental breakfast then headed back up the highway to Mundania.

All in all, it was an inexpensive and enjoyable getaway.  I must do this more often.  Now that I know of a great place to enjoy the beach naked I will do it for sure.  I wish I didn’t always have to do it alone.

Also: Sunscreen is amazing.  Three hours in the direct sun and I didn’t get burned.  I’m impressed.

Beach Trip!

I woke up early this Saturday morning to a strange buzzing sound.  After walking around the dark house and out in the yard I discovered my neighbor’s air conditioner to be making a horrible racket.  A very loud buzz that can drive a man insane in a few minutes.

Maybe it would be a good day to get the fuck out of town.  I haven’t really gone anywhere in who knows how long.  I spend most of my weekends puttering around the house which is perfectly fine to me because being at home is like being on vacation.

Today I’m feeling like I want go get some sun and water and run around in my speedo or naked.  I decided a spontaneous trip to Corpus Christi and Port Aransas might be in order.  I went online and booked a hotel.  I could have driven there and back in one day but why push it.  Sleeping in a hotel is part of the fun.  It’s a cheap trip.  The hotel, gas and food should cost me less than $200.  Totally worth it at twice the price.

I plan on taking my bike and riding down a blocked off part of the beach where cars aren’t allowed.  I’ll wear my little red speedo and maybe go naked if the beach is deserted.  What fun!

Yes. I’m going alone.  I have two people who I could ask but one would just not appreciate the awesomeness and the other can’t stay overnight.

That’s fine.  I prefer do do as I please and not be encumbered by dragging someone along who is only partially self-aware.

This should be a nice get-away.  Look for the trip report tomorrow.
